Baidarkas and Baidaras

Baidarkas and Baidaras, the boats of the Aleuts were so named by the Russians. Baidara is Russian for boat. Baidarka is the dimunitive of baidara and means little boat. The baidara is the large open boat crewed by many people and baidarka is the closed boat with anywhere from one to three hatches.
